Smoothing wrinkles with dermal fillers

When you look into the mirror and see your first wrinkles, you are aware of the fact that the first visible signs of aging are present on your face. Sun exposure, hormonal changes and aging have a significant effect on your skin’s appearance.

Over time, skin begins to lose hyaluronic acid and collagen, and the result of this process is the appearance of wrinkles and the loss of skin elasticity.

Luckily we have dermal fillers available. These are crosslinked hyaluronic acid-based preparations that fill surface lines or deep wrinkles, shape or plump lips or fill the area below the ears, but also the face can be redefined by adding volume to cheeks or chin. It should be noted that the body slowly disintegrates every dermal filler during 8-12 months. To keep your youthful appearance, you can repeat the dermal filler application procedure several times, approximately every year, without any adverse health effects.

Candidates

Among the candidates for the dermal filler treatment are all the people whose first wrinkles have appeared or there has been an initial loss of volume in the cheeks, lips, or if they want to redefine the lost line of the chin. Some experience the beginning of this process in the late twenties, and some later, depending on the genetics and lifestyle (smoking, sleeplessness, daily stress, sport, nutrition).

Preparation

At the Polyclinic Bilić Vision patients are offered free consultation without the obligation to go through the treatment. If a patient chooses to apply a dermal filler, he or she can do it on-site, immediately after consultation, or make another appointment. If the patient is wearing make-up, it is necessary to remove it before the surgery. Then, anesthetic cream is applied to the specific part of the face, and 15 minutes after the anesthetic starts working, the physician begins to apply the dermal filler.

Treatment Description

At the Polyclinic Bilić Vision we use the most technologically modern among the dermal fillers. Juvéd. is an injectable gel that consists of an advanced 3D cohesive matrix with hyaluronic acid that moisturizes the skin and gives it volume to minimize signs of aging. Hyaluronic acid as a component of the dermal filler has the function of stimulating collagen production that is responsible for elastic and toned skin appearance. And best of all, the result is natural and immediately visible.

It should also be noted that Juvéd. is the first filler to which lidocaine was administered for the painless application and the only filler for which the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a certificate proving a 12-month effect.

By applying Juvéd. into skin wrinkles are smoothed out, but it also serves to restore the lost volume (plumping the cheeks, lips, lifting the corners of the lips, redefining the chin line) and treating the area around the eyes, forehead, cheeks, nasolabial folds (from the nose to lips) During the Juvéd. application anesthesia is not necessary because Juvéd. contains the anesthetic lidocaine, although anesthetic cream is applied at the injection sites to make the treatment completely painless. After the cream begins to work, the doctor uses a thin needle to inject Juvéd. into the area that needs to be refreshed. After application of the dermal filler, the treated region is gently massaged. The treatment is short and painless, and the dermal filler application lasts 15 minutes, while the entire treatment (application of the anesthetic cream, the impact of anesthesia, dermal filler application) lasts between 45 minutes and an hour.

After the Treatment

The length of recovery is minimal. The first 24 hours after the treatment you should avoid intense exercise and sauna, sunbathing and pressing of the affected part of the face to reduce the risk of redness, swelling or itching at the place of treatment. After treatment, short-term injection site reactions may occur, such as redness, pain or swelling. The result is visible immediately after the treatment, although only within two weeks will the filler redistribute and show its true effect. Most patients need only one treatment for the optimal result of smoothing out the wrinkles or increasing the volume of the desired area. The effect is visible for up to one year, which is longer than by applying most of the other dermal fillers.

Precautions

As we have already said, occasionally, after the treatment of skin wrinkles, it is possible that redness, hematoma, or discomfort when touching the spot where the filler was applied may appear. If any of the above occur, it should be known that all this will disappear after a maximum of two days, though the redness disappears after a few hours. Of the most significant side effects, skin necrosis may occur or allergic reaction to the dermal filler, but such reactions are exceptionally rare.
